Router
In the student dormitory, you will find Ethernet ports where you can connect your devices. It is recommended to use a router to connect multiple devices behind it. You can only register two devices simultaneously in your account, but when using a router, you only register the router and can connect as many devices as you want behind it. You can either use your own router or borrow a router from us.
Borrowing a Router
You can borrow a router from MCN for a deposit of 20€ (cash). You can use this router while you live in our student dormitory. When you move out, you return it to us and get your 20€ back, provided the router has not been damaged or otherwise rendered unusable.
Please contact us in advance if you would like to borrow a router.
Compatible Routers
In principle, all routers that have a WAN port and support DHCP are compatible. Most routers nowadays should do this. Specific recommendations are:
- TP-Link Archer C20 oder Archer C50
- TP-Link Archer C5 oder Archer C6
Please note that the device must really be a WiFi router.
Access points or routers with DSL connections usually do not work.
Also avoid Speedport, EasyBox and 1&1 devices
